A Beautiful Classic Baratta Home

Here's another beautiful Baratta home........this one is very traditional and classic in design, as you will see.

The last time I posted a Baratta home (here), it was a classic coastal home, but this home is designed for a large family of three generations and lots of pets who love to gather at this home on a bay just a half hour from Manhattan.

With a mix of toiles, ginghams, chintz, ticking, needlepoint rugs, wicker and beadboard, and the usual attention to detail that Diamond and Baratta subscribe to, the home is a wonderful haven that anyone would be proud to call home.

Enjoy!

Look at the backyard overlooking the bay.

The pink toile upholstery is a beautiful complement to the panelled walls.

Love pretty rooms!

And a flower arranging room - so cheerful and bright - absolutely divine!

A One of a Kind Hamptons Retreat

Looking at this house, you would never know it's in the Hamptons near the beach - most beach houses are decorated with the colors of sand and sea.  But, this homeowner wanted to bring in the greenery of her beautiful gardens.

Collaborating with interior designer, Jack Fhilips, produced this wonderful year round getaway for family and friends.

Working with the homeowner's collections of landscape oil paintings and antique furniture, adding crisp white woodwork and accenting with green and ivory toile throughout, makes this home not only comforting and inviting, it is simply beautiful to look at. The high contrast of the stark white against this gorgeous green is striking on its own, but it's the details that speak for themselves.

And whether you are looking out the windows onto the beautiful green gardens, or in the windows at the beautiful shades of green, you are surrounded by the serenity only green can provide.

Enjoy!

A Betsy Schmidt Kitchen

Hi Everyone!

Here is a kitchen I saw in a magazine a few years ago and it is one of those unforgettable images........it's a very striking design and when you see the pictures, you will see what I mean.

The designer, Betsy Schmidt, of Cincinnati, is a designer after my own heart.........she loves color!!!  Pinks, greens, blues, yellows, red......whatever!  And she has a fabulous eye for working them all together!
This is her own remodelled, 80-year old kitchen in which she has blended raspberry toile, periwinkle chintz on the bar stools, blue and white delft backsplash tiles, lime green floor tiles as well as blue and white gingham with roses decoupaged onto the buffet drawers.

She is able to accommodate all that color beautifully by adding large doses of white in the cabinetry, ceiling and woodwork.  She has also mixed the metals beautifully with brass cabinetry hardware, brushed nickel faucets and stainless steel appliances.

Two sinks, two refrigerator drawers, two dishwashers and a wet bar make an irresistible kitchen for entertaining and for guests who can't seem to pull themselves away from it all!

Enjoy!!

I was hoping to offer you more photos of this kitchen, but I'm unable to at this time........to see more of her work, check out elizabethschmidtinteriordesign.com............her colors are wonderful!

A Room of Her Own

I love these small rooms where a woman can tuck away at a moment's notice - we all need a space that we can call our own, don't you think?

A cosy getaway to write, read a book, listen to music, do needlework - whatever it is that you find relaxing - perhaps to just close your eyes and dream!

And it's no coincidence that these rooms are all in toile - just that much cosier!

Enjoy!

Posh Nursery #1 - Pink

This moodboard represents a pretty monochromatic scheme - not a lot of high contrast here.  While I'm not sure Princess Kate would be much of a 'pink' fan for her little princess's room, if she were to choose  it, the softness of the tone would be important.

Kate is so traditional and low key, I suspect she might choose something completely neutral......but, one never knows and she may surprise everyone!
